When you are planning on taking a vacation, a lot of things come into play. One of those is bringing your pet with you. Your dog is one of your family members and you don’t want to leave them behind. They get excited to go on vacation just like your children do.
Airlines have a lot of stipulations on what you can carry on, as well as how heavy your bags are that you check in. Dog carriers are no different. It’s best to check with the airline to see what type of airline approved dog carriers they use. They do need to be equipped with a sticker that says “live animal.” You don’t want to purchase a carrier that is collapsible. It has potential to fall on your dog. Getting the right information is key, so your family including your dog has an amazing vacation.

For instance, a regular sized food dish or water dish may be too deep for a small dog to handle. Dog carriers and crates also need to be sized down. For my tiny Yorkshire terrier I bough x small dog crates; a soft one for travel and a metal crate for home. The collar my terrier wears is also an extra small because a regular sized collar would slip right off her neck. When it comes to caring for your pets, size matters.
Finding the Best Crate for Your Dog
Are you a new pet owner? If you’ve just purchased a new dog or puppy, there are plenty of pet supplies you’ll need to pick up to ensure the health and safety of your new four-legged friend. And one of your first missions will be to attempt to potty train your animal, especially if it’s a puppy. With this in mind, when purchasing a dog crate you’ll want to be sure it provides enough room for the puppy to lie down away from any urine or feces in the cage.
Some dog crates have a removable tray at the bottom, which makes clean up a bit easier. This way you can strip away the mess for cleanup and then replace it sparkling and fresh. Other cages have quick-dry surfaces that line the bottom of their cages to prevent urine or other liquids from settling or absorbing into the base of the cage. I’m sure after you do a bit of research, you’ll find a cage that best suits you and your new pet.

As long as dogs have been part of the domesticated lifestyle of mankind, people have utilized their dogs by creating dog carriers for them so that they can help carry the load where ever they are going. In today’s society, it is more of a luxury item then an item of necessity. Today, dog backpacks are very popular with those hiking and camping on or along the great trails and wilderness sites of the world. There are a few things to consider, however, before going on your trip with your canine pal loaded up with camping gear.
One thing to consider before purchasing your dog’s backpack is to make sure that it fits your dog properly. If possible, bring your dog to the store and get them a fitted properly for their backpack. If you are thinking of putting any kind of extensive load into the backpack, nature it fits snugly and is okay for the dog to wear for long durations of time. Never overload the backpack, especially if your dog is a smaller variety which cannot support a large amount of weight.
